Clear Lights Question.

Has anyone installed Clear rear Lights on their SENTRAs?

I've imported some lights from the States since I can't find any where I live. I went to install them on my car and the light bulb casing doesn't fit. The metal pins and the light size are just perfect, but the light bulb cassing is bigger than the stock hole for the stock light bulb cassing.

Is it possible the SENTRA's from the states are not the same as Canada's? There would be a few minor differences? I highly doubt that, but I guess it's possible.

If you live in Canada and got some Clear Lights (aka Altezza Lights, Euro Style, etc..) Did you have to do some body work on your car, or did they fit perfectly? And if you bought them in Canada, what store sold them? I can't find any in Canada yet.

Thanks.

It would seem so now wouldn't it? Or you have the wrong parts.

I'm not sure at this point. I called my dearler and asked them if there's a difference in the body of the US and Canadian Sentra. He told me there shouldn't be any, the only differences would be in the pollution laws.

The other thing that's strange, is that the parts I bought fits at some degree. There's 4 metal pins to attach the nuts on. All 4 fit in the holes. The dimensions of the light are the same.

The only difference is the seal to protect water damage. There's a kind of triangle on the stock lights around the light casing part. That triangle starts out flat for about half an inch and then has the sealant. The lights I bough, the sealant starts on the outer rim of the stock's flat triangle, so it doen't fit in the hole for the stock parts.

(Check this screenshot to help)

I talked with a few people (from the states) and they say they haven' t had problems like this. Theirs fit perfectly. So either I got a light from a bad batch cause I won it for kinda cheap on eBay, or my dealer doesn't know what he's saying and there is a difference.

Anyways, for now, I'm going to wait a bit. I'm talking with a few US companies about this and they are doing a few researches for me (Many thanks to those) and on monday I'll call my dealer, there's a guy there that has more experience with that, that might be able to give me more insight.

Thanks.

If I were you, I would send back the new one and look elsewhere for a better one. It looks to me, from the pics, that they are not the same. Look at the bottom side of the shell on the old one. It is curved and the new one is straight. Also the weather seals don't seem to be the same shape. It looks like they sent you the wrong part.

The curve effect is because of the angle I took the picture. It fits in the hole, the problem is the water seal like you said.

It's not at the right place. If you look at the bottom light, you'll see about half and inch all around the water seal. Looks like the new light, when they built it, they decided to put the seal around that and not like on the real light.

Anyways, i'm talknig with someone on this forum that got the clear lights I want. He installed them without a problem, hopefully he'll be able to check for me if his are like the top light or not.

I mean, it's possible that Sentra's shipped to Canada were fabricated in Taiwan, then assembled in Canada, while the US Cars were fabricated in China and then assembled in the US, giving our cars slight differences.

When I get an answer about the lights from Cory, then I'll post like a big rap up of things.

Thanks for the input though.
