Soft Suspension

I am the original owner of a 2002 Sentra GXE with 11,000 miles. The car bottoms out when hitting a hard bumps in the road. Minor road bumps are felt. It feels like the struts are not doing their job. Are any other Sentra owners having this problem? Has anyone had any contact with the factory on the issue. Are there aftermarket struts that will solve this problem? Thanks!

whats your definition of "bottoming out" ? it might be your wheels hitting the pot holes ....check your wheels and check your tire pressure....tire pressure can change the suspension alot!. also, check your tire wear and tread depth they may also contribute. i have a Spec-V('02) and my springs and struts are stiff as hell so expect so bias from me.......but i think the sentras have pretty stiff springs.

the spec-v's do have pretty stiff springs, but the gxe are really soft, it wouldn't surprise me if you were bottoming out. I think the only real choice you have is to upgrade to coilovers or just stiffer springs. There are many aftermarket choices out there, and all are stiffer than your stock ones. There aren't any aftermarket dampers out yet though, so you can't go that route.

you could go a order a set of spec-V springs and dampers....or maybe just springs....the se-r springs might also work

I could sell you my stock springs, they're the same springrate as the se-r and they'd be cheap

When I say bottom out, it feels like the car is fully bottoming against the frame. Tire pressures have been checked and are holding 33psi. No leakage around any of the struts. All seem to bounce equally when I push down on the fenders. Thanks for all the replies.

Re: Soft Suspension

You aren't making much sense... first you say it bottoms out... indicating flacid springs, then you say you can feel every bump... indicating a taut suspension. Hmmm...
