This month, the Nissan factory is offering an additional $1,000 rebate on all Spec V's (i think its $1,500 for LE's, GXE's, and XE sentra's). I think its got to do with the lagging economy and lowered consumer confidence due to the war with Iraq, but thats just my two cents.
ALSO: if you are a college student or recent grade, be sure to ask about the financing option, you get $500 back (and if you can cosign with someone with good credit, get the 0.9 % APR.) 0.9 % APR is great since average inflation each yr is about 3.2%.
got my AEM Intake the other day. It works great. Check out the deal on Ebay, there's this guy (PowerGarage or something like that) selling it for $155 now!, and there's a $25 shipping fee (includes insurance) so your paying $180, still a bargain.
hey I was wondering if you have had any problems with your car? I am looking to buy an 03 in a few weeks and I read soo many probs with the 02's. Also alot of people are throwin their SES lights from installing the CAI, I have done 2 AEM installs on honda's though none on Nissan though. I thought the previous were pretty basic and how is your car responding to it?
Well, I've had my AEM CAI on there for only a few days, and so far it hasn't had any problems. It's hard to tell cuz sometimes it takes a lil time before any problems occur.
Also, a lot of people with the Injen CAI have been blowing their MAF sensor (its a plastic cylinder that senses the amount of air going into the engine). I have yet to hear any problems from other people using AEM CAI with this problem. If you do get a Spec V, just go with an AEM or Hotshot CAI, make sure when you are removing your stock intake to handle the MAF sensor gently.
As to if I would recommend Spec V, the answer is yes. It's a great bang for the buck. If you have over 20k to spend, however, I will consider other cars on the market.
everybody has been blowing MAFs with CAIs (not everyone, but every type of CAI has had a few blown maf's, they aren't just from one brand, and yes people with AEMs have had many maf's blow as well). I think the spec-v's just have weak MAFs because the SE hasn't had any problems with it, and the gxe has had very very few problems with the MAF. But it seems like everywhere you turn someone with a qr has blown another one, even people with the stock intake.
Yeah, why do MAF's blow from cold air intakes? I understand that it measures temp and stuff but can't it be adjusted somehow? Would you have to get a custom chip made or what?
