Hi guys,

I just bought a 2002 Sentra GXE with the Synergy package. I have a couple of questions. From what I have read, the Synergy package comes with a 7 speaker setup. I can find 6, but not the 7th, which I assume is the sub. The system sounds a little worn and would like to replace any 'blown' speakers with some aftermarket set. Does anyone know where the '7th' speaker is located? Also, does the 1.8L engine have a timing chain or belt? Finding out these answers will help me out a lot. The 1.8L has a timing chain. Don't hear of too many problems with the timing chain, but I have heard of a lot of head gasket failures on the 1.8L.

As far as your audio system, you should have a door speaker in each of the front doors, a tweeter in each of the front pillars, and three speakers under the rear parcel shelf, the center one being the subwoofer. Refer to speaker "D" on the diagram below. I would highly recommend Crutchfield.com for replacement audio componants. Fair prices and great service!

I actually found that exact diagram after I posted this. I'm not surprised that they want $370 to replace the sub woofer. I haven't bought from Crutchfield for a long time. I'll give them a shot.
