2005 Sentra brake problem....

just wondering if any of you guys have had any problems with a loud clicking noise coming from the rear brake area. when I press the brake pedal past a certain point, a loud click noise shows up. I thought that maybe when the car nose dives from braking, a loose link in the suspension, or something similar pops. What makes me think its the brakes instead is that it skips, and clicks even when i am creeeping to a stop on flat ground. popping every time the wheel rotates.

1 mechanic claims the rear drums are worn thin, and need to be replaced. the car only has 50k on it, so hows that possible?

thanks for the help!
