rpm issue

I have a 2000 sentra and when I turn the car on the rpm will go up to about 1500 to warm up which is normal but recently I have noticed that they will not go back down to 750 which is what they usually are at. So anytime the car is in neutral my rpm are up and I noticed that when I put it in 1st gear and slowly let out the clutch the rpm will immediately drop. Also, when I am cruising in say 4th gear and then put it in neutral the rpm will drop slower than usual. Any help would be appreciated!

this kinda happened to me but in my car i would just have a high idle problem. well after some time my mass airflow sensor went out and when i changed it. it got rid of my high idol problem. that is 1 thing to consider... is your CE light on? if it is, find out what code its poping.
