Question service engine light @52,000

just bought a 04 sentra 1.8s, 52000 k on it. had a week, service engine light came on. windshield wash light came on as well....this morning no windshield light but still service light on. I used to own a 00 maxima and the light came on and off every other week, withno issues. should i be concerned.

please tell me what it could be at 52,000 i dont own a code reader. I have driven nothing but highway miles since purchase

thanks

you could either go to autozone and get the code read for free or pull the code manually doing the peddle dance.

umm, why don't you just put some washer fluid in it. it does not last the life of the vehicle you know.

yes bird i know to refill the washer fluid. it just seemed odd that the washer light came on, when the mil light came on, then went off after not filling it. car is a week old and fluids were full when i left the dealership. thanks for your humor and insight..merry xmas

The orange light always means something went astray. Most of the time, it's an emissions-related issue and doesn't affect performance of the car. In fact, you could probably just continue on your merry way and never have a serious problem, but, would you ever know if something else were to happen?

I am discovering these sensors are the Achilles Heel of most newer cars. It seems the plan is to take more and more money out of the owner's pockets for some government regulations and rules.

My Sentra has had about a dozen of these SES lights, you'll be lucky if it's just your gas cap - go check and see if it's screwed on properly.
