Can I change the guage cluster?

I have an 01 sentra se and the speedometer is broken if i were to change the whole cluster with a used cluster that has about the same mileage will everything work correctly? Is it just plug and play or will the cars ecu or electronics recoginize the mileage has changed? Has anyone changed theres before on an 01? Ive done it on my 95 gxe but that was cause i wanted a tach and everything worked out fine but my 01 has an electronic odometer. Let me know..Thanks

It pains me to say this, but you're probably best off to go with a dealer part and have the speedo set to the correct mileage.

the problem is the dealer will prob charge me like $500 dollars between the cost of the cluster and labor if not more. I'd rather do it myself if it can be done

You can still just buy a speedometer from Nissan, have them set the mileage and replace it yourself. I would be surprised if the computer cares about the mileage but I don't know for sure. Have you priced junk yard clusters? I paid $100 for one for my 97 truck, but it was local and I could see it and didn't have to wait or pay for shipping.

i've gotten 3 clusters from the junk yard and you just gotta keep track of your mileage..if you wanna and wabang! $25 and a DIY easy project

just find one that is close enough to the mileage that is on your vehicle, change it out and don't look back. If you went to Nissan you'd have to purchase the entire cluster assembly, and still wait for the order to come in. By that time your mileage would have changed. Everything will work perfectly on it, so long as it is the same part.
