Electrical Problems in my Spec V!!! Help, please help!!
Okay, so I love my car...but, I'm having some type of electrical issue with it. Here's what's going on:
Please keep in mind that this happens at random times, which makes it harder to diagnose.
I'll go to unlock my doors with the keyless entry, and it doesn't respond. So, I'll have to unlock in manually, and when I open the door, the lights don't come on and it's like the battery is dead. I'll stick the key in the ignition, turn it once, and nothing happens. No response at all. If I wait a couple of seconds, it's fine and it will start.
Sometimes when I drive to work or wherever, and I get out of the car and lock it with the keyless entry, it'll make this weird sound like the horn is being torchered for a quick second and it doesn't lock. When I go to open the door, the lights don't come on and it's like the battery just died.
And the last thing; sometimes the alarm will just go off by itself. It's like someone hit the panic button, but the keys will be in the other room. That's really annoying.
I called a Nissan dealership and spoke to a mechanic. He said to try and take the battery out of the keyless entry and don't replace it. He said that the person who owned it before me may have put it through the laundry or something which could make it do that (he had someone else who was having similar problems and that seemed to work). So, I did that and when I went to manually unlock it, I opened the door and the alarm started going off. It was really embarrassing, too. I had to dig in my purse to find the battery to put it back in the keyless entry so I could shut it off (good thing I held on to it).
So, here's the thing. I absolutely love my car, but this is no good. If it's a problem with the computer, I'm going to have to sell it. I really don't want to do that. Maybe I should get a whole new key and keyless entry for it? I just don't know. Can someone please throw some suggestions at me, I am so desperate. The check engine light came on about 5 or 6 months ago and when we read the code on it, there was too much voltage going through the O2 sensor. I don't think that has anything to do with it, but whatever. The check engine light hasn't come back on since, so maybe that was a separate issue that corrected itself. If anyone has any idea, please let me know. If this problem gets fixed because of anyone's suggestions, I would kiss the ground you walk on.
Thanks for taking the time to read my short story.
Peace.
