bad tires

I have the 2002 sentra gxe with the road hugging package or whatever they call it, basically the model with the 15" rims and fog lights. Ive noticed my car handles horribly in rain and snow. I do realize that not many cars handle great in the snow but my old 626 hardly ever lost traction. I can barely drive in a straight line without sliding all over the place. and in the rain I cant even get traction in 2nd if i press the gas too hard, and when i say to hard Im not talking about flooring it. About half throttle and my front end peels out in 1st and 2nd, sometimes even 3rd. I was just wondering if my tires were the problem. Ill look up the brand the next time I go outside, i thought maybe it was a common problem with that year and model.

I know exactly what you mean, the rain part at least, my car handels like crap on wet pavement, I think it has to do with the weight of the car and defintitly the tires as well. My other thought was our car isnt big and bad but its got decent torque and we can peel out prety easy espeacially if have most bolts-ons, when i had the header and CAI i could peel out easy and I have a Auto, so........I would like to hear what actions can be taken to reduce or eliminate the problem, if any exist.

I don't know which tires come with the 15" package, but the 14" tires suck really bad. The 16" wheels come with firehawks which were okay, but not great by any standards. The 17" wheels from the spec v are pretty darn nice. Prob one of the only stock setups that are decent. Just remember to drive slowly when it rains.
