That is usually the case, Get a carfax for the car to see.

Try to stay away from 02 as it was the 1st year for the qr25 and the one with the most bugs. 02's are enough of a PITA to have to worry about the car being wrecked beforehand.

I have an 02 and have 0 problems so far FYI. Look into how late in 02 it came out, the early ones should have pull loop in the trunk to release the back seat whereas later ones have pull button. There are other ways to tell but its been awhile since i compared them side by side. The way i know this is when i went to buy mine (with 60 miles on the odometer) I saw another one with about 1 or 2k miles that was obviously one of the first ot come out and i could spot a few differences. Try to see if you can find a production date on the vehicle (dont know where to look for that) and if its late 02 it should be OK. As long as all the recall work has been done and if that butterfly recall finally includes the 02 then you should be OK. If you are still worried just replace the header with a catless one (i recommend NISMO R-Tune, i love mine) and loctite the butterflies yourself and you should have one of the sturdiest and reliable cars in bolt on form on the road.

P.S. before people start bitchin about not taking boost or whatever, i said BOLT ON form: I/H/E, so dont argue that.

P.S.S. Only buy it if you want to keep it N/A and near stock or if you want to go turbo that about 250 WHP is ok, otherwise look elsewhere, but screw drag anyway, put bolt ons and find a twisty road and use it for what it was made for.
