when my 02 ser spec v is in nutral i seem to notice it more but there is alot of pinging like when you turn most cars off you hear it a couple times but my ser pings like grazy

It's the heat shield (metal expanding, contracting, etc.), don't worry, it happens to all sentra's including mine.

generally it is the heatsheild, but the pre cat can make a ping as well. be sure you have had all recalls completed.
