Tire Suggestions

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for good yet inexpensive all-season tires for an 02 Sentra SE-R Spec-V.

there's no such thing as good all-seasons. they'll either suck in the summer, suck in the winter or suck in both. you have a nice car, don't go cheap on tires

Dont even bother switching the tires. I ran on a set of 18" Pirellis all winter here in Chicago and they were a hell of a lot better than the stock 16" firestones I had on there before.

out of curiosity, where do you live? if you live somewhere with mild winters, then you could just run summer tires all year, but that didn't even occur to me because winter tires are a neccesity where i live

continental contiextremecontactsport or whatever it is called is well rated

the pirelli p zero nero m+s has excellent reviews

as i am sure you know, no all season tyre will be able to offer the grip of a max performance summer tyre nor have the traction of an all snow tyre although recent ultra high performance all seasons have improved dramatically recently

the michelin pilot sports have excellent all season tyres but you cant buy them since every single one has been recalled

the downside is that continental, pirelli, and michelin are all expensive.

Im not buying a new SE-R. The thing is that this guy wants to sell me a SE-R but wants to keep the aftermarket rims so he going to put the stock rims with crap tires just so I could get it to my house then I could put what I want. I live in NY, so we have a balance of weather. No such thing as good tires? Are your tires made of rubber or plastic?

The OE Spec V wheels carry the Continental Contactsport2. They are a "max performance" (they really aren't...whoever rated them as that was smoking something) summer tyre and will do nothing in snow.

It is important to understand what classes of tyres exist.

From the Tire Rack

Max Performance Summer
You want maximum street performance and only the best will do...

Ultra High Performance Summer
You want outstanding handling and response for the street...

Ultra High Performance All-Season
You're willing to trade a little handling for all-season versatility...

High Performance Summer
You need to "re-tire" your sports coupe or sedan...

High Performance All-Season
Your sports coupe or sedan needs to make it through occasional light snow...

Performance All-Season
You want good performance at a reasonable price...

Winter
You need control, traction and confidence for driving in winter...

If you want to drive your car in lighter snow with the same tyres that you drive in summer with, then you will be best off with performance all season or high performance all season. The best rated tyre is the Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S. It is not cheap, but with something like a 400 treadwear rating, it will last you a long time. If you plan to drive in deep snow, you will need a true snow tyre such as the Blizzacks or Hakkapeliittas, which IIRC are both studdable.

So i found these Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S. These are all-season arent they? The treadwear is 400, which isnt too bad. I can afford it since it comes out to about almost 500. Did I get the sizes right? I put 215/45-17.

correct size, they are all season and very highly rated, and a 400 treadwear will last you many a miles. good choice on the rubber and enjoy
