HELP!! Noise From Right side!!

I don't know whats wrong with my sentra, when I'm driving and I turn the wheel to the right, it makes a noise like something is touching something that it shouldn't be or it more sounds like a rubbing noise!!! ( thump thump thump thump thump thump)(it gets loud too) I don't know what is causing it. I have had my rotors, pads, and the wheel bearing on the right side all replaced and still noise. When I straighten out the wheel or make left hand turns it is fine. Any ideas to what could be the problem??? I need to find a new mechanic around here cause this one has proven that he doesn't know what he's doing and charged me, dropped the car off and said everything is fixed.... Trust me he is going to get an ear full from me but I still need to locate the problem. Thank you guys for all your help!!!

Sounds like your right hand side cv joint. Does it get real bad the you turn the wheel all the way to the right?

yeah, just look under your car and look at the drive shaft, if the rubber boot on either end is ripped all your grease has leaked out and you need to get it rebuilt or just replaced, this mechanic your are talking about is a total idiot if he knew this sound happened only when you turn.

Well It could be the CV joint but the sound doesn't get louder when you turn the wheel all the way to the right. In fact when the mechanic replaced my bearings he said they were all chewed up and I think that is what the grinding noise is. He replaced my bearing but not the hub.... maybe the hub is distorted????? Just replacing the bearings didn't fix the problem and now I'm out a little cash so I'm taking it to a real mechanic tomorrow to get a second opion.... All I know is i want my car back to the way it was...... also more bad news, my master cylinder is going out tooO!!!! all this and I have my last payment this month and the car is mine..... never fails doesn't it.... oh well, I'll let you all know what the mech says tomorrow and see if it is something to do with the hub and bearings...

Well I hope what happened to be, doesnt happen to you. I payed my last payment of a friday. On Sunday, my car was totaled by a hit and run driver.

So now, you always get the noise? Or does it only happen when you turn right?

Only right, when the wheel is straight or turning to the left.... the noise is gone.... when its just slightly to the right its there..... Sounds like bearing grinding amoung each other......or just something along that side rubbing against something..... I'm sorry to hear about your car!!!!! I guess my problem isn't looking that bad now that you said that!

Well it could be a few things. The mechanic might have changed the bearings, and didnt change the race. If the race had a burr, or is damaged, this will cause the new bearing to be damaged as well.
Another thing could be that the dust shield on the back of the rotor is rubbing on the rotor.
What I dont really understand is why it is only doing it when the wheel id turned to the right. Wich make me believe that again it is the cv joint.
Does it go click lclick click click, clunk clunk clunk, or is it a constant sound?

Thats what I thought it was at first was that damn dust shield on the back of the rotor but that was checked and was okay. I just had my rotors and break pads done so I know its nothing to do with that, and plus it was making the noise before they were changed to. The noise is like a thump thump thump thump with not only a second inbetween each thump. The noise is loud and you can feel the vibration in the car as well as hear it very well. I need to check and see if the CV joint is leaking still cause that could still be the problem and no one has checked it as far as I know but could that damage the bearings??? When I did take it to another mechanic from the test drive he said it sounded like bearing but I just had them replaced, so something is cause the bearing to mess up. I hope this help a little bit, any more questions just let me know and I'll try to answer them the best I can. Other than these 2 problems, my car runs great!!! and only has 76k on it!!

Like I said, improper installation of the bearings can cause damage to a new set.
There are also bearings inside the cv joint that can also make a sound similar to what you are describing. Now you will know for sure its the cv joint if you turn the wheel all the way right and it clicks really loud and hard.
I just reccomend talking it to a good mechanic, that a few friends/ family reccomend. They should be able to let you know what is actually wrong with your car.
