Question Putting Alloy Wheels and Bigger Tires on a 1999 Sentra XE

First of all hello to everyone since this is my first post here!

Next, I have a few questions that I hope can be answered by someone with more experience in this area than me.

I have a 1999 Nissan Sentra XE with stock tires/wheels and I want to make the switch to bigger tires (205/40/17) and alloy wheels.

I have the following tire/wheel combination picked out from TireRack.com:

Pirelli PZero Nero M&S Blackwall tires
(http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...ero+Nero+M%26S)

and

ASA 17x7 JS1 Wheels
(http://www.tirerack.com/servlet/Call...2FMachined+Lip)

So now my question is will there be any problems with installing these on a 99 Sentra XE as far as size and offset (the offset is +40mm) are concerned? The car currently has the steel wheels/hubcaps it originaly came with and 175/70/13 tires.

I believe the wheel opening should be able to accomodate the bigger tires/wheels.?

And if anyone has done a similar modification to this type of car, is this the right size of tires/wheels or should I look at bigger or smaller options.

Also will installing alloy wheels/lower profile tires improve the handling and stability of this car? Because that is the main reason I want to switch over.

If anyone can help me out with this I'd appreciate it, because I have no previous experience with replacing wheels and tires.

Thanks a lot!

Bigger wheel and tire diameter acts the same as gearing up your car. It makes the gear ratio lower and will slow your accleration. Plus they may or may not be heavier than stock (I didn't check)

i think his over all diameter will be the same, but since the weight s all on the far outside of the wheel it will be harder to spin.....and turn if you think about it.

ok, go out side and take off the 24in. wheel on your bike, spin it, try to turn it with your bare hand, its hard no?
now, find a 20in wheel or a 16in wheel. this should be much easier to spin and turn. the wheight is closer to the center.
not the best compairo because the wheels diameter is bigger but you get the idea.
for the best performance and handling AND comfort, get 15in or 16 inch, tops.

forgot who posted this site last time this is talked about..

if anything i would leave the speed meter alone. it could/could not be a bitch to deal with.
