grinding gears a little

when i have been driving i've noticed that sometimes when i shift into second from first it is hard to get in gear and also makes a little grinding noise. This ONLY happens when going from 1st to 2nd gear. when downshifting there is no noise or problem at all. My stock clutch has 97K on it and 3 people have learned to drive a stick on it so im thinking its about time to replace it. but is there anything i can do to stop the 2nd gear grinding?

btw i do have a pacesetter shortshifter but idk if this could be the problem

If 3 people learned to drive stick on it and its got 97K its def time to change! That most likly is your grinding problem

lol probably.. but for some reason i dont want to jump on it..it isnt really the same kind of grinding as my friends civic slipping its just more of a klink noise(its hard to describe) and it only does it randomly not every shift. i know it isnt the heatshield and, im not really worried about it right now but if it starts doing it in other gears then ill fix it.. mabye i just need to center the clutch or do some cable adjustments idk..

The clutch cable may need adjustment. It's an easy thing to try, anyway.
