Speedo Sticks

I've got a Sentra GXE 96. The speedo sticks to the bottom at 0. Only happens occasionally. I give the dash a bang or I wiggle the odometer stick and it pops backs up. Also pops back up if I go over a bump. Almost never occurs on the highway. When the speedo's not working, I've noticed that the odometer isn't working either. Before I start pulling things out, I want to know if it's probably the head or the sensor or something in between? Any suggestions?

I had a friend of mine that his speedo would do the same thing and just like u he would hit it and it would work. We checked his fuses and didnt find anything that fixed it and my thinking was that it was the speedo itself, maybe some sort of mechanism inside the dash that makes it run. . . the thing is that he never got it fixed. Hope this helps.

you can possibly open up the plexiglas and see if you can clear out anything that would cause it to stick.

I doubt very highty there's something actually sticky in there. When I said stick I mean that it looks like it sticks. I'm sure it's a mechanical problem somewhere, just not sure where.

what I'm saying is it could be rubbing on something. Possibly the needle is rubbing on the face. Do you have indiglos or anything on the faces?
