I have read all the ball joint posts and I have one little Q: I was changing my spindal yesterday and got it off fine. But then when it came to putting the new one on and tightening the ball joint nut. The entire ball joint shaft is spinning. I cannot get the bolt to tighten. Is this a Shot Ball joint? I know I'm going to have fun doing that.

the only way to do it the is to hit the wrench in short bursts like an inpact gun would do. if you it it quick enough you might be able to get it to tighten....other then that check to make sure that the threads arnt striped and thats prventing it from tightening
one other way is if there is some of the shaft of the ball joint is though the nut put a clamp on it but do that at your own risk cuz you might damage the thread

Thats more than likely not going to work, not being a dick but I've been there tried that. What has worked for me is taking a small trolley jack and put it directly under the balljoint. Jack up the control arm until the car starts to lift a little. You will now be able to tighten the nut.
Since your at this point why not spend the $22 at carquest and change the balljoint out? The balljoints at autozone did not fit for me btw.
I'm starting to dislike imports just because of the things i'm starting to learn. I went to autozone to get the balljoint.DONE.....Rented the "Ball Joint Press".DONE.......Get the old ball joint out.Failed.....Cannot get the tool to work..AND TRUST ME I have tried everyway...I'm good with cars.( I went to school for it)...Just never made it to the suspension and steering..I even tried to bang it out. Cant get a good angle. I GIVE UP!
So I went and got me a "NICE BRAND NEW CONTROL ARM"<sarcaism>. $150.52 with tax. So I'm about to do that tommor because I cant afford to get DOCKED at work($66 a day)

No
it works
we just removed the ball joint on my car like 2 weekend ago
it took around an hour once we got it
just follow the diagram on the box and it WILL work u just ahve to keep trying.
Well my new control arm is in...Not to bad. Had a problem with the sway bar getting in the the way of removing the back bushing on the control arm. But i just loosened up the sway bar mount closeset to that side and just moved it a little. I would rather do it this way. My old one had no resistance. I say do what your able to. I was straped for time, not money.
