i was turning around in an intersection in a neighborhood, and i hit a curb that looked like it was just someone's driveway. anyway, i thought the control arm was bent, cause the wheel was sitting way back in the fender, like the caster was off about half an inch, negative i guess. my mechanic said it was the frame, and i needed to have the frame pulled, and said it would cost 200 - 300, which seems low, but would be great if it's an accurate estimate. how much should i be expecting to pay for this? thanks- jeff

i'd get a second opinion on that. more likely to be the control arm. i would be really surprised if you actually bent your frame from hitting a curb, unless you were going really fast.
i couldn't have been going over 15mph, but i need to verify that with the passenger that was with me when it happened, my recollection isn't what it shoud be. also, i put the car on a lift (my roomate works at big ten) and checked it out, and it looke to me like the control arm was bent, compared to the other side. i don't know, second opinion does make sense.

if the strut is bent that will be just fine. i have saved $900 bucks to buy my basics and all the fixings to compliment them, and am really pissed that i have this expense now. but with my luck, the frame would be bent. that's the way it usually goes. but anyway, if the frame is bent, what should i be looking to spend? still open for other suggestions, though. thanks for the repies by the way, i'm super frantic to get this fixed, cause i'm supposed to drive to nashville on tuesday, and would hate to have to drive my fenderless crx.

i got a second opinion on my car. we put it on the lift, and yes, there is in fact a little buckle in the frame, but it's where i usually jack the car up, right behind the wheel. the guy i took it to said it shouldn't affect the alignment, and i do recall seeing the bump in the frame in the past, but didn't think anything of it, cause i hadn't compared it to the other side. he said i should replace the control arm, hub, and strut. good call harris. anyway, i guess i don't care if the frame is bent, as long as it's not affecting the ride or alignment, it shouldn't matter, but if i can get it pulled for under $300 i will.

update: i found a new control arm in a junkyard for $50, pulled off the bent one from my car, split my thumbnail, cursed at god, put the new one in, and got an alignment. now everything is straight, and i still have enough money for my basics. fuck yeah. and my roomate has some nitto 555 at work, and i think i can get them for $100 each. so everything worked out alright, if anyone cares.
