firewall q - roof scoop

I know plenty of people have done battery to trunk relocations - theres been lots of great pics and discussion - but I cant seem to find a good spot to pop a line through my firewall. Ninety-Nine SE-L did a great thread where he drilled a hole behind the D/S kick panel. Is there anywhere to shoot through without drilling?

Also, I want to get rid of my A/C, so I was thinking I might install a functional roof scoop. Has anybody done this? I want to know if there's anything in particular to stop me.

Still haven't started on my hood scoop yet... still up for suggestions.

roof scoop would be a good idea if you didnt make it rediculously high, maybe a 1" er 2" inlet, and had it emptying into a sun roof.

If the car looks really really wild, a functional roof scoop can be really cool. There is a Mirage around here somewhere that has a functional one... very cool.

Basically, I'd snag a pair of center vents at a junkyard, along with the little "closer" mechanism and fab that together on a fiberglass mount. Cut through the roof to the scoop, and you're done. Just make sure the style of scoop 1. fits the lines of the car and 2. doesn't let a flood in when it rains. It might be worthwhile to put a new gasket around the "closer" thingie so less moisture could possibly get in.

I used to be a tactical truck driver in the military and a few of our vehicles had roof scoops... but they never had headliners ( I need to replace mine anyway).
Basic rule: dont use the roof scoop when its raining.

With no a/c it'd be nice to have an alternate source of fresh air (besides just the windows - too noisy).

I dont use my a/c, so im thinking of uping my alternators ampage and tearing out the power steering and a/c components. Install an (UR) underdrive pully and voila!

Souldn't that be good for a coupla horsepower?

Also, still wondering about the firewall. Is there nowhere to go through the firewall without drilling?

Gotta head to work... being a rent-a-cop aint easy (ha!)

Why don't you want to drill? The wire is so thick it'll be hard getting through grommet holes. Theres plenty of safe places to drill through.

There is a easy way to doit if you run the wire over the driver side plastic fender guard you will come to a small area close to the door where the inside fuse wires run toward the under the hood fuses and relays if you try hard enough you can fish your wire inside the car then run them in the corner under the carpet under the rear seats and to the trunk i have done this with 2 gauge wires and you if done neatly you will not be able to even tell there two 2 gauge wires running inside the car and its easy no drilling through the firewall

i could be totally off because i got this advice from a domestic professional dragger who knows nothing of the glory of nissan, but ditch your smog pump, it's the extra pulley that's not your crank, alternator, a/c, etc. said that should add crank hp and not kill emissions because it's all done by computer anyway

Sorry for the late reply I got lucky and had a friend who have strainded 2 gauge wire 20 ft long and i used some copper half bolts to join the orginal wire to the new wire fix all up in a plastic project box and ran the wires to the trunk.
If your having trouble locating proper 2 gauge wire I would recommanced buy a heavy duty jumper cable about 20' long and cut the clamps use that But be sure its 2 gauge dont get those cheap 4-8 gauge jumper cables to small. if you find this it will be the proper wire and there wouldnt be anyproblems its just thick so it will take time to fish the wires in the proper place.

by the way 20' was plenty enough for my 200 but if you got a sentra it may be short dont know but i did have about 5-6 feet extra left over thats incluced hiding the wire all nice and neat.

You have to drill a hole somewhere to run the power line. I chose the kick panel b/c I didn't want the power cable running across the engine bay. You also need to run the line inside the car b/c it's dangerous to run the wire on the outside (below) the car.

Lemme tell you something, removing the AC is a big chore. just removing the dash is a bitch, I just removed the Blower Fan, evaporator, and heater core etc. from my wrecked car and it was a bitch even with just the dash removed. I had to remove that big bar as well to get the A/C out.
