Stillen G-load brace on a 95 SER

I just got the 2nd G-load brace from stillen and neither fit my 95 SER, both seemed just a fraction short as if they were bent too much ... i have since given up and will not use it, but i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their car and brace? also ... does it make enough of a difference to bother gettin a custom one made for it.

Yeah like a 1/4 inch shy and I thought my frame was bent!?
Stillen says "bolt on" I say "what bolt?" It just don't line-up.
I think thier template is off and am just fed-up with "bolt-on's" that don't fit!
So anyway, it's sitting in my garage, maybe I can use it as a home-defense club or brace my front door with it or something.

I do like Stillen for their Strut braces (front and rear) which kinda eliminate the need for a g-load brace anyway. Worst 100 I ever blew on parts....
was on this g-thing (no pun intended)

I also liked their pop-charger, but now I have the HS CAI and boy that was the bang for the buck I wanted!

Too bad this97 is obdII so JWT won't touch....."experts" huh?
Doesn't anyone speak in binary code anymore?

dan .. you know if you call them they will tag it and you can send it back .. thats what i did... I think this needs to be brought to their attention cause this is the second one i got and neither have fit either cars. as for the OBD II that is untrue mines a 95 and its OBD II and they reprogrammed mine.

oh well, guess this is one part the forum should chalk up as "useless" cause they dont even fit.

Stillen made the brace as a one size fits all deal. They made one brace to fit the B13 and B14. The B13 has the control arms closer together, by about a 1/2". I guess Stillen didn't test fit the bar on each chassis, that's why you are having problems.

Yeah, imagine that, a test-fit. What a groundbreaker.
And oh-yeah, the pre-96 cars may be "obdII" but it is a whole different wiring diagram if you look in back of the hanes manual. That obdII is programable for some reason after 95 it all turned into source-code that jwt won't touch.
The post 96 vehicles with JWT part's have done the "ECU conversion" back to a pre-96 ecu, and while it is possible (i'm not saying it's not possible) it would be very expensive to buy another ecu mod the wiring to work with it and pay to modify it.

I think this horse is dead now.

I have a 97 and also bought the G Load brace a little over a year ago. It also doesn't fit, it's about 1/4 inch or so off. What was strange was some 6 months later I was going through the NISMO magazine while sitting in the lobby of a nissan dealership and noticed that there are 2 part numbers for 2 different g load braces that NISMO offered at the time for B14's. It had a 3rd for the B13 but that was obviously understandable. When I called stillen about this problem they said that it fits "most" B14's but they have personally run into some that do not fit and even told me of someone that brought their car in and brought it to Stillen and even they couldn't get it to fit. They did offer to give me my money back but I never took them up on that, I figured maybe someday I can get into a machine shop and do a little bending, stretching it out just a hair, to get it to work since the clearance of the crossmember is actually pretty substantial (and some bars actually rest as well as brace onto the cross member).

I even considered cutting it in half and introducing a double ended bolt with heavy duty welded washers into the bar itself to give the opportunity to "preload" as well as adjust the length but I have a feeling that would really cause integrity problems of the bar itself since it could easily bend in half under heavy load.

Take a look at the Shigspeed brace. It's a low-profile bar (only cuts your ground clearance by an inch or so) and it's the most effective because it has 3 mounting points - also clamped securely to the center crossmember for added stability.

It makes a nice difference, especially the first time you take a tight corner with it. Oh yeah, it lined up perfectly on my 98 SE-R on the first try.

Very reasonable price, hand built by a well-known Nissan enthusiast. Very nice piece. Lower control arm braces don't need to be especially thick because their job is mainly to keep the control arm mounting points from movingg away from or toward each other. The bar doesn't have to resist very much up/down movements of the mouting points. Having a substantial bar is nice, but not worrying about ground clearance is nicer.

It's dark but you can see it mounted up front. The brace allows for large-diameter exhaust piping
