Overdrive Problem??
Hi I am new to the boards and just bought a 1995 Nissan Sentra GLE. The car runs great but I am having a slight problem with the transmission. When I first bought the car it would do 23 to 2400 RPM's @ 60 MPH. One day I hit a bump in the road and now when I am doing 60 the car is turning about 3000 rpm's. Also when I come to a stop it seems like it is going to stall and then idles real low. Any idea what could cause this?
Thanks for any and all help
Jeremy

The torque converter isn't locking up. Check to see if the code is stored in the ecu.

Is it ok to drive it like this until I get it checked out? I dont want to cause any major damage.

Yeah should be perfectly fine. A lot of older cars don't even have lockup converters.
Check all the harnesses that go to your transmission... maybe just a plug loose.

That is what I was thinking. So It will just run at a higer rpm till I find the problem? I thought something could have come loose since it happened when I hit a bump in the road.

Could be... the only bad side effect is that you'll burn more gas at cruising speeds.
