Stalling-Shut off Problem 200sx SE-R 97

Well I just replaced the starter myself and the car finally starts. However, something weird is going on under the hood. As soon as I turn on the car.. wheather im holding the cluth, or in neutral.. the revolutions will go down into 0 and force the car to stall and shut off. Basically you have to give the car gas constantly to keep the revs over zero to avoid shutdown.

This makes it very hard to drive in New York City with the constant stopping and going. I'm about to have someone check it out tomorrow but if anyone could help... please do!!

These are my two prime suspects.

1- I took off my injen cold air intake and put it back on. It worked perfectly before and i swore i put it on right after i installed my starter.

2- It wasnt easy putting in the starter myself. But was there a consequence that might have happened by me doing it manually.

Geez I hope you get this fixed. I have some suggestions though. Since you had to remove your intake make sure you have everything hooked up correctly to the mass airflow---also if it is this bad I am guessing that a check engine light came on--if so check the codes and it will point you into the direction of the problem. I know when I replaced my starter I too had to remove my intake and was working around the tps sensor area to get that dam braket out from behind the intake manifold so make sure all the sensors are hooked up by the tps because it first sounds like it is disconnected like when you are trying to set your timming. I hope this helps and good luck.

Nope. No check engine light. I figure its something to do with the timing. Im not sure if its the starter alone or if the CAI is involved.

no the timming is not involved unless you moved the distributor which you do not have to when replacing the starter.

1. Clean the throttle body

2. Check the idle adjustment screw. It's under a plastic cap at the top of the throttle body.

Cool

check all your connection and the seal around the air manifold gasket, sounds like something is causing your car to lean out.
