my 200SX se understeers like hell in the rain, even when i take the turn slow. o think it may be b/c the tires suck, i have hercules tires (there when i bought the car) there's a lot of tread, but could it be the actual rubber? help!!!!
I've had 2 sets of hercules' tires on my car(i'm cheap) and i had signifigant understeer too. Tire pressure was always good, It just seems like the sidewalls aren't strong enough to support the vehicle's weight in the turns and the tire starts to fold over. It wasn't just in the rain, but all the time. I have some descent tires now(Essex, not as bad as Hercules but still cheap) and I will never go back. Well worth the extra $$$ for the saftey and drivability.
THis isn't a personal vendetta, just an observation.
You should never skimp on tires. In fact you should always get the best money no object.
Seatbelts, airbags, traction control and all the rest are worthless if you have crap tires. Its the single most important thing in the car. It is what gives you any modicom of control or safety.
I think its funny that people will spend mad cash on rims to get the cheapo tires that come with them.
Again its nothng personal. I'm poor, but sacrificed TEIN basics for 4 new tires.
no offense taken at all, thanx for the reply, but i got those tires when i first bought the car, i never chose those tires,
anyway, i'm also piss broke right now so new tires are out of the question
You can get a GREAT price on tires at www.tires.com or www.tirerack.com. Sumitomo or Kumho makes a decent tire for a VERY cheap price.
At tirerack.com they even give customer feedback about the tires. Heck of a lot better hearing it from the people who are actually using the tires than the manufacturer.
