Some idiot bumped my antenna...

Now the base of the antenna is bent, and the black part where it connects to the car is now loose. I'm not worried about the antenna, that seems like it is fairly cheap, but is there a way to tighten the base of it (the black part that is attached to the car) so it doesn't keep moving back and forth?

Thanks.

the chrome piece with the 2 opposing notches?? try some small needle nose pliers and rotate, there's a special tool out there, and you might find that at your local parts store.

my black base has been loose for ages. my car has never been bumped into. i have a feeling its from the wind blow against it when i'm speeding on the highway, might have loosened it. might require taking the fender off and tightening it from the inside.

yeah... I talked to one of my car friends today and he said the panel needs to be taken off. So I go and look up on how to do that, and it looks like a huge pain for this little problem. If I'm going in there, I'm putting in a power antenna. For now... I'm using his old vw gti antenna

Way to go man. Power antennas are a good investment.

who said you need to take the fender off??? all you need to do is take the mud guard off inside the wheel well...

i dont think you need to take the fender off, or even take off the mud guards.
my antenna base was loose a couple of months back, and my father tightened it up by just thightening the ring at the base against the fender. i dont know how to explain it well, but give it a try, it should work.

listen to fadedkm83... i didn't think about that... but i just checked it, and he's 100% correct of course... you can always just pull that out, and cover the whole with some fiberglass... who needs a radio, when there's a cd/mp3 player...
