if i wanted to replace my lower strut bolts, could i just get stainless bolts from a hardware store or are those bolts a certain strength made for the suspension?

if you can, bring one with you to the hardware store and see if it can be matched up with, but i am doubtful that they will have one, try a dealership first then go there.
