oil filter problem?

i've been using an Puralator oil filter on my 96' se-r, this oil change i got a bosch filter and it doesnt fit. i had the same problem with the k&n filter, i went back to autozone and double checked i got the right one and they said it was. any filter i buy except the puralator are like 1/4" bigger than the puralator and never fit. any ideas?

Autozone has their database all messed up. I had to go on an experimenting spree before I found the right one for my car. I suggest that you go to a dealership and get the right filter instead of dealing with this fitment BS. If you still want to get one from Autozone, get a Fram filter. For some reason, those are the only ones listed correctly in their database.

Go to nissan for filters, they are better quality and they will fit.

you can use the STP filters and they fit like a glove. I have been using them before STP took over DEUTCH (I used this prior to the name change)

but does anyone know why nissan oil filters are superior to any other??

because they have an anti drain back valve! woohoo! what does that mean? cleaner oil in the cycle! nice! i just bought yet another oil filter from nissan and damn, the price went up from 5.75 to 6.25.........kinda bad

I had been using the trasko changable media filter. Has anyone else ever seen this ? http://www.trasko-usa.com/
I hadn't been using it on my sentra yet because it wouldn't clear the oil pump, but after adding an oilfilter relocate kit I could put it on. Currently I use a Fram FP1 or some such it's like the second biggest one they make and it barely fits in place. Plus you can change the filter anytime and there's no mess!
