I think my clutch cable broke, but I've never experienced this problem before, so I wanna make sure it's not something else.
Basically when I was pressing the cluth to change gears the clutch made a pretty loud thud/snap kinda noise and the pedal felt very soft, and I needed to push the clutch pedal in really far to get the clutch to engage and even at that it was hard getting into gears. Then about 15-20 minutes later it happened again, but this time the pedal stuck to the floor. I can pull the pedal out and when I push it back in, it snaps to the floor and doesn't engage the clutch. I limped home, by revmatch shifting, and running a few red lights (cause I couldn't stop). My car now sits in my driveway, and I need to know for sure what the problem is, and whether I can handle doing it or if I should take it to someone to have done. Keep in mind, I do most of my own work and am pretty mechanically savvy.
PLEASE HELP ME
I don't have any experience with breaking a cable but that's what it sounds like happened. Look at the clutch on top of the transmission. If you can move the cable substantially I would say its broke. Especially the way you describe the pedal. At this point you would also notice if the arm is broke. I think that is the arm McLaren F1 2003 is talking about. I know alot of SE-Rs have that arm/spindle reinforced to avoid breakage.
The arm is fine, and i tried moving it earlier after I got home and it moved freely, as if it wasn't really attached to the pedal, but I didn't know it this was normal.

Clutch cables snap after a certain amount of time. It's a known thing. Just get it replaced. Buy a Hayne's manual, it has a good detail as to what you will need to do. Was your clutch a little hard to press before it snapped?
Clutch lever arms, on the other hand, don't break as much as you'd think. My guess on that is how driver's shift and how they treat the clutch pedal. The clutch lever arm is a pretty solid piece, so its hard for me to imagine how drivers end up breaking it.
