alarm system

i have a 97 sentra gxe and it came with a standard alarm. recently i noticed that when i pressed the alarm key the car doesnt make the doot doot noise anymore. and also when i unlock the doors with my key, the alarm doesnt go off anymore. so basically the alarm key is used to lock and unlock the door. the alarm is gone. Did this happen to anyone, and what can i do to fix this without getting a new alarm system.

I thought when you set your alarm it honks the horn..does your horn work? did you check too if there are any blown fuses? (thats where Id start looking)

when i got my car the honk never honks when i press the alarm button. i couldnt find any fuses for my alarm system. do u know where they are?

if you press and hold 2 of the buttons on the remote (can't remember which 2), your lights will flash like 3 times real fast. all it's doing is turning the audible horn honk on and off. some people don't like the honk when they lock/unlock, so they put that feature in the remote. that should work unless there's something really wrong with the whole alarm system.

fwiw-i think all that is in the owner's manual....please check that reference before posting people.
