Thumbs up

I have hotshot headers and I have the stromung exhaust with the res and it was a little loud for me, but I love it.

I have the Stromung. No res, no header. It sounds perfect to me. I happen to have a recording. Go to my webpage (below) and go to the bottom of the dynos page. It's not the best recording, but it's pretty nice.

Lemme put it this way. At UCF, Big V8 trucks and muscle cars (with big aftermarket exhaust) tends to set off every car alarm in an entire 4 level parking garage. Honda fart cans tend to set off every car alarm they pass by. If I go up all 4 levels, My car doesn't set off one single car alarm unless I really try (and when I push it, I may only set off 2 or 3).

then I've got problems, because I've gone through the whole thing looking for an exhaust leak and nothing, but raspy yes, only at a certain RPM range though guess I'm just the unlucky one

mines only raspy when the car is free-reving, under load there is no raspyness at all. i dont have the resonator and my cai is just as loud as the exaust. its kinda cool my car growls in the front and the back.

make sure the pipe is not banging against something under the car. When I first installed my stromung, it didn't fit properly. The part of the pipe that runs horizontal to the car wasn't long enough and the pipe would bang against the fuel tank. I brought it to a performance shop and they were able to add a small section to the pipe so it would fit better. Unfortunately this piece was not stainless steel, so it's looking a bit crappier than the rest of the system.

If I were you, I would defenitely go with a resonator. My friend who is running the HS CAI/header/Stromung w/o resonator combo and the car sounds slightly raspy but not bad enough to be considered rice. I'm running the HS CAI/Stromung w/o resonator and it soulds perfect. I wouldn't want it to get any louder or any softer. That fine smooth deep tone combined with that low roar from the CAI provides my ears the satisfaction of knowing that my car doesn't sound like rice.
