Interesting exhaust fact...

ok well today we replaced my exhaust on my 1995 sentra GA16DE and found something odd when we went to the muffler shop... the pipe that the book they were using said that all sentras 95-99 have a 1 piece pipe from the header to the cat... well mine was 2 pieces and I already had 1 of the 2 pieces so I was stumped, I didnt want to pay for the larger 1 piece pipe, so I flipped to the 1991-1994 section of the book and they had the 2 piece exhaust like mine... I dont know if the book was wrong or nissan built my car wrong, but the guy at the shop was REALLY pushing to sell me the big piece...

here is the 2 piece I had...

and this is the 1 piece the book advertised...

please excuse the periods, I couldnt get the spaces to work..

Any ideas why this was like that???

oh and all the gaskets off of the 91-94 fit like a charm, and I kept my stock cat back. now my car is no longer loud and obnoxious

well stock the exhaust manifold is similiar to a 4-1 one piece then the downpipe on mine goes to the cat....and u know the rest of the pipin...thats wierd how the cars are made...does anyone notice the dfference of 0-2 sensors on different ga's...i have a 95 manual and the front o2 is one wire while the second is 3 wire...on the auto i seen the front 3 wire but i am not sure underneath the vehicle....but even in the haynes manual they dont show the first o2 in 3 wire...i dont know....just something to look at when u look at other motors....also i thought all ga's were obd-II well 95 and up...

The reasen the front o2 senser is three wire on the auto is for shifting purposes, if you take of and the car is coold it wont shift out of gear till a later time its tring to worm the car up by keeping high rpms, so it uses thst three wire to make sure the exaust isnt geting uot of smog or oem specs if it is it will shift sooner it also has alot to do with your fuel when the engine is coold.
