the 'service engine soon' light came on. the computer code says "Bnk1 system too Lean" how do I fix a lean system and what does it mean exactly.

check all fuses, fuel pump, injectors... anything fuel related. MAF sensor might be a problem as well. if not, check all the wires going to the ECU.

Your most likely suspect is the O2 sensor...

Quite the contrary... the codes are very useful to someone who understands the system. It is true... there is not a code for every defect that can occur... there couldn't be. The ECU code system was not designed to eliminate the need for trained diagnostic/repair personnel.

yes that could be THE problem, but not getting your hopes up. it could be more than just the MAF. if the MAF doesnt send the correct readings to the ECU, it might think your getting more air than you are and could cause some damage too your engine. id get that replaced or checked up.

Lean means you not getting enough fuel into the combustion chambers for it to be the correct fuel to air ratio mixture(Correct me if I am wrong anyone). So less fuel maens less hp...You don't want to be a slower Sentra now do you...LOL!

Fuel filter is a possible suspect too. See it all the time at the shop.
