My car was hit and will soon get a new paint job. It is now Aztec Red (which is really maroon) I don't want to repaint the car to a completely new color because then I would have to do the door jams and trunk and engine compartment. Is there any other colors that are close to Aztec Red? Maybe something a little darker that would still match the door jams?

Best thing I think to do would be to take it into a place that does painting... they should have some kind of book with all types of different shades and stuff, pick something that you would think would work. It's not good looking at colors over a computer monitor either as it may appear different when you use it.

Yeah well luckily, my girlfriends dad has the hook up on body work. So I can get the work done just how I want it. I'm definately going to get my trim painted as well. I might buy some nice body pieces since I have to get the car repainted. I guess it's now or never if I want to add any body work.

Having painted several cars,I'll chime in with my 2 cents. There is no color you are going to get away with that will make the jambs look right-especially the doors. It'll look like a car that had a cheap paint job and the tried to get as close as possible with the 20 or so color choices in the Nason synthetic enamel catalog( Think Earl Scheib). If you are doing a color change it pays to do it right. If you are on a tight budjet, at least have the door jambs done as the trunk and hood areas do not have pearl and clear coats on em and always look slightly off anyways.
