worn noisy shocks

one of my front motivational shocks has worn. symptoms: "knocking" noise while driving, and unusual side to side freeplay of the wheel when car is off the ground. the car ride also seems "bouncier" than normal.

is my car safe to drive with the worn shock? i am planning on driving on the freeway from pasadena to long beach (motivational) to get the shock fixed. what's the worst that could happen? should i get it towed instead?

thanks.

if it has barely worn then there wont be that much damage if any, but i would recommend not driving fast and just avoid bumpy roads in general.....i once drove from LA area to Mossy and back on bad axles.....my shocks have been pretty bad since i got the car........so that should give u an idea. :/
