Just got the autozone flywheel

And it weighs 14.5 lbs! According to another forum member, the stock one should be 18 or so.. According to the box it was remanufactured by ATSCO.. anyone heard of them?

So far so good..

6y0zc
and
MCO
are cast into the back of it

I am installing it friday.. will let you know how it works out then

Well

You could have it lightened further. I had my stocker lightened and it now weighs about 10.5 lbs. I hev been running it for about 3 years now. No problems!

well.. if stock is supposed to be 18lbs.. and this one is 14.5 then that's good enough for me I think..

I wonder what makes it lighter.. it is a reman stock

anything wrong with buying a reman flywheel? It's "made in the usa" heh

The only way I could think of remanufactored flywheel is if it's just resurfaced and rebalanced.. maybe they took 4lbs off while resurfacing it somebody went for coffee break

ive got a spare flywheel if that one shatters to pieces(which i dont think it will). i never got back to you but its in good condition...just needs resurfacing. i might take it to a machine shop and go ahead and lighten it.

Wes, you shaved 7.5lbs off the stockfly wheel is unbelievable. What other side effects did others say your might experience?

I just weighed my old stock flywheel and it was 14-15 pounds ( on a bathroom scale). So it looks like the stock weight is normally 14.5 pounds, not 18.

When I weighed my flywheel BEFORE it was touched it was just uner 18 LBS. After it was done it was 11. So yes they safely removed 7 lbs. It cost about $60 to have it done. There have been no side effects. faster to rev, easier on the gearbox. It does not have a nice replacable surface like the JWT flywheel, but I had this done prior to that being available. I have had this for over 3 years WITHOUT a problem. This flywheel outlasted the OEM and ACT clutch.
