Angry Dash lights, etc. . . Pain!

What a pain in the. . . My dash lights are out on my 200SX ('96), all of them, and as soon as it stops raining I'm going out to check the lights, though I have a suspicion that its not the bulbs, because the lights by my shifter are out too (yeah yeah, it's an auto, not my fault). So chances are it's a short, I've checked both sets of fuses and all the applicable ones seem to be fine. . . Any suggestions on where I should look for the short, or might it be a fuse I hadn't checked? The speedometer and tachometer still function, but I have no lights. Thank God for cruise control. . .

'preciate it. . .

Sage

try checking your tail light fuse, the circuit is connected to your dash lights.

Yeah, I tried that, and just went out and replaced it again for good measure. . . No dice. I also noticed that the check engine light came on around the time the dash lights went out. Does that make any sense? it's prolly unrelated, but, thought I should mention it.

Check your dimmer switch. Pull off your fuse panel, reach your hand in there and pop out the switch from the back, unplug it and play around with the plug with the lights on and see if they flicker. Bet that's the real problem. Do not think it's a fuse at all myself.

or your dimmer could be just turned down... try spinning it clockwise to turn on the interior lights. I drove a week with a flashlight in my mouth everywhere I went because I am a F***tard.

He is talking about getting the error codes from the ecu, and see if that has anything to do with it.
Here is the how to: Check ecu error codes.
