well... a 95 200sx window switch WILL NOT work on a 98 200sx... I hooked it up, and tons of smoke started pouring out of the dimmer switch.. I unhooked it an no more dimmer switch.. no dash lights work at all now.
Until I get a new switch... is there a way to 'jump' two of the three wires on the back to make it stay on all the time??? I would assume one is ground.. the other is input 12v, and other is output varied. Therefore, if I could jump the 12v input and varied output I would get a constant 12v, which would leave them on all the time...
help please,
tia Jacob

this is assuming there are 3 wires behind the dimmer switch...
one shoud be 12V
one shoud be ground
one shoud be the output for the dimmer.....
if the smoke was the switch internals melting together and the wires look ok, you may still be able to use the wires.... jump the 12V and the output wire with a switch or something....
a good idea would be to first test the wires using a multimeter...
another good idea woud be to "jump" the two wires with a inline fuse.... smoke is bad...
if the smoke was the wires melting togehter, you may have to dig deeper.......
its odd tho... a fuse shouda poppped!

Since the dimmer switch does not work I can't use a multimeter too see what is what.
i spose the dimmer switch shoud have some type of wiring behind it.... is it possible to clip the wiring from the switch, strip the wiring, and then test the wiring??
hope it helps, man
