Where should I start?

I own a 98 200sx. The only thing done is all audio upgrades. I don't know where to start with the looks and performance. I see many of you guys with only intake, header, and exhaust. So is that what I should do? My car is only an automatic, if that makes any difference.

Well you have the SE model w/ the ga16 engine so you are never going to have a beast of a car so I would ask yourself whether performance or show is most important. Judging from what you have already done w/ your car you may just simply stick w/ some minor bolt-on mods. and continue w/ the cosmetic side.

-----Oh boy here comes the attacks----Yes you can get respectful gains from the ga16 and am no way bashing the SE boys(but serious hp requires no2 or turbo). I'm also aware that an sr20de w/o serious mods. isn't a monster either.

If you do decide to get some performance upgrades, begin w/ the intake/header/exhaust (in that order). They will give you a nice gain plus they are relatively easy to install.

I had IHE, and timing and it sucked. 1.6 is pretty peppy but with bolt ons it's still slow... TURBO, is the only way to go! Don't waste your money on the IH... if you're going to get an exhaust don't get it till you have enough money to put the turbo in with it!

I would like to sell my car, but money wise, I am not able to. I really want a Blazer but the insurance is outrageous for me. And then, I would also love to get a Trans Am, but insurance is also high and all the options that I want on it, makes the car out of the price range that I am able to pay. So, I might as well stick with my car and do whatever I can with it. Some of you may hate on me because I am not be really into Nissans as much as others, but I love my car to death and I always will. But the bottom line is, I need more space in my car and I want something faster.

I don't know why you would want a Blazer or Trans Am, it will probably fall apart before you leave the lot.

If you don't plan on owning your car for awhile I would leave it stock. Modding is very expensive and you could use the money on a car you're really in to.

more space? hmm.. i dont know how i can help you there...

something faster.. my dear dear faithandfame.. i am more than willing to help you make your auto 1.6L go faster. MORE than willing... i have the 1.6 L auto tranny as well and i totally understand your pain.

im sorry if this may offend you but the blazer and the trans am wont last you very long. That is also the possiblilty that the maintenance and repairs on those thing are more frequent than an import vehicle.

trust me my dear dear faithandfame stay with your ride now... in my most honest opinion it will actually be better. AND if you want to make it go faster come to me i will help you out for sure ok?

that what me and many of the board members are here for.. to help you so please i ask you to come to us if much u have questions im sure either me or some of the moderators and board members will be more than happy to help you.

take care my friend.

in my opinion go turbo first!! Forget the tints(don't need it because you gonna want to see the expression on those honda drivers you beat)
and forget the rims, unless you getting light weight ones and you don't live in pot hole city

Right now I am deciding on Spec V or Mazdaspeed Protege. I was at the Mazda dealership last nite and I basically fell in love with the MS Protege. It is really nice.

My Dad actually told me last week that he is willing to take out a loan in his name and allow me to just pay monthly for it.

Go with the spec-v. Although the MS protege is faster stock and looks cool the nissan wiil be better for what you want i think. The protege is rather disappointing for an already turbocharged car. In my opinion the MS protege is one of those cars that you leave alone and don't do much to. The spec-v offers decent performance stock but has enorous potentilal performanc wise and look wise. The aftermarket companies are really embracing the spec-v as well making it easy to find alot of parts for it. And finally Nissans are just plain cool.
