some of you may have noticed this, the gap between the front and rear wheel wells (distance from the fender lip to the wheel) is considerably greater in the front... i know of a couple of solutions for this:
- coilovers
- a company that makes springs w/ a front/rear offset
B & G produced 2.0F/1.6R drop springs
- cut one coil off the front set of springs
one solution ive thought about is actually somehow adding metal to the front fender(s) to make the lip lower w/ respect to the ground... therefore closing that unsightly gap in the front
speaking of which, i was wondering if the z3 fenders produced for the b14 have lower cut lips... any commments, suggestions... please
i understand your point about welding/adding material; coilovers can solve the uneven front/rear gap problem, but the car still rides like ass if you go past a 1" drop... well, here in michigan anyways
IF lower cut fenders can be somehow... produced.... the b14 will look lower (kinda like a civic) and have a halfway decent ride...
im wondering about the z3 fenders... anybody invest in any lately???
Or you can go all out and get the shortened struts from motivational and coil over set up. That way you can go as low as you want, and still have enough travel in the struts for a nice ride. But be prepared to pay 320 a piece for the struts.

i got those, had to... i live in mich... and the roads here plain suck
you can not make the car look right without body work....
you may be able to lower the gap but IMO it still looks a little funny because the front fender cut is allot bigger than the back...

here's temporary pics of mine. i have equal fender gaps. you can't see the front very good b/c the wheel is turned out. you don't have to go this low though. (B&G springs/AGX-b13/b14 combo.)
man... i shouda spent the extra 3-4 grand n got the damm SE!!
everytime i see one, i wana kick my own ass
nice car, man... the stock appearance is quite fooling to a SI owner, im sure...
I wonder if Nissan made the rear wheel wells so small to discourage excessive lowering due to the suspension travel issue? Oh well. On with my post:
I read that there's a JDM body panel (Lucino?) that actually has a taller wheel well cutout than the American 200SX. I don't remember a whole lot about it but it may have been a limited production thing, they stopped putting it on even the JDM cars after a while. Maybe other countries got the same body panels too.
Probably harder than hell to find, but would fix our wheel well problems nicely, wouldn't it? I myself am getting coilovers soon, so I'm putting a lot of thought into the ride heights of the front/rear wheels. Got Progress 1.7" springs with Motivational rear mounts (drops the rear an additional 3/4" or so) so my front/rear wheel gaps could use improvement!
I've seen a few 'widebody' kits that have a slightly larger fender dressing on the front (meaning they made it hang just a little lower in the front than in the rear) to make the gaps look even. Hard to see the difference in the front and rear dressings in size too from one kit I saw a long time ago.
The body panels with the larger wheel wells are for the rear wheels, by the way. I forgot to mention that. The factory panels had wells close to the size of the front ones. I'd love to invest in something like that but its gonna be a big body panel and probably will be a bitch to retrofit, if even possible. Just an idea.
