1995 200SX to 1997 200SX engine swap

I have a 97 200SX, automatic transmission, that has a blown engine.
I also have a 95 200SX, manual transmission. 5th gear is shot in the 95.
Same engines as far as I can tell.
I would like to replace the block in the 97 with the block from the 95. Is this a possibility?

it should be ok. it's still the GA16DE. you might have to look at some of the emissions related items when dealing with a pre-obd2 to obd2 powertrain.

It'll swap. Make sure you swap the spacer pressed into the back of the crank for the torque converter.

Appreciate the replies. I had replaced the steering rack and practically all the brake components in the 97 just before my son blew the engine. I bought the 95 for $350, not running, just for the engine. Fixed it and have been driving it but now without a 5th gear considering swapping engine blocks as I had originally planned. The body on the 95 has several dents, otherwise I would just get the tranny fixed.
