i know all of em have the same sr20de but i know the style changes a little bit.. and the 1998 front end looks terrible.. i need help cuz this its gonna be my project car and i plan to swap for an sr20det in the later future.
You should try to get whatever you can find, I know when I bought mine I really didnt have much of a year choice, It took me forever just to find one. But unless you look around like on the se-r.net classifieds or something. I prefer the 95-97, just cause thats what I have and I like it, but the 98's are nice too, its up to you.
I agree with se7enty7 for the same reason, you lose the VLSD after '97. '98+ are also heavier by about 60lbs. The side mirrors are also no longer body colored.
You get the white gauge faces, red needles though, and speed-sensitive power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering added.

So 98’s weighs 60lbs more. I did not know that. Care to share your source. I am not arguing just curios. For the record mine weighs 2540lbs and it’s a 4 door. It also has the sunroof and power everything. I do have a BABK and a lightened flywheel. I do think the weights of these cars are a little exaggerated. My car is not much heavier then a classic on the same scale at my track. I would get a 95-97 just to get the LSD.
That is manufacture supplied data. I am a little suspecious that it does not seem to be accurate. I guess we won't know until we weigh a 98 and a 97 with the same specs. My car is supposed to weigh 2600+ but it doesn't (thank god).
Seriously....check ebay. There are TWO on there right now for sale. One 96 with ~70,000 miles and I can't really remember the second one. But there are always some on there. Just might need to drive a bit to get it.
