I'm trying to find out where the electrical ground for the 12V cigarette lighter is connected on a 1998 200SX. I'm looking to eliminate audio noise when plugging in iPod with charger which currently goes up and down with acceleration.

I would like to locate the bad ground and fix it rather than get a ground loop isolator filter. The fuse for the cig lighter also blows mysteriously every few weeks so this way I can eliminate that problem too.

Does anyone know how to track it down?

The FSM shows a 15A fuse. Is that what you have ?
Nothing else is on that circuit as standard. is there additional load to an after market stereo ?
The black wire from the lighter is the ground, it shows multiple connecting points. I suggest you follow the wire. ( or make a new one and connect to a ground point.)
The noise going with engine speed suggests Alternator noise, try putting a condenser on the alternator.
