I have a leak at my cat converter pretty bad, getting worse. The rest of the pipes have been recently replaced (1 year). I have to make sure that I don't get a check engine light since I live in NY. Muffler shop says they'll put a direct fit cat on for $370 w/ 5 year warranty. What do you guys think? If I wasn't worried about the check engine light I'd put a universal one on, but I've been down CEL HELL before trying to get an inspection to pass and don't want to do it again.

I think that so long as the O2 sensor is before and after as OEM it will be ok.
People here have put headers on and an under the floor cat and made it work.
you can try getting one from a forum member, look in the classifieds and on the other Nissan forums SR20 etc.
Unfortunately the wrecker yards around here will not sell them, they all go for scrap metal.
Something about they are not allowed to sell them, EPA ?
