hard shifitng not fixable?

when i first bought my 95 sentra xe the tranny shifted as smooth as butter. Well the clutch was on its last legs when i got it so i replaced it about 4 months after that. Ever scince then i have experienced very hard, notchy shifting. to the point it screwed up 2nd gear really bad. so i got anohter tranny and it had the same problem! i then exchanged the tranny for an excelent condidtion rebuilt tranny. i Ordered a new oem nissan clutch to replace the centerforce hd clutch i bought the first time. slapped it together and as luck would have it it still shifts hard. alot better but still hard and notchy. now the only thing i can possible think of is the fluid im using. the first time i put in 80w-90 cheapie stuff. i swapped that out with 85W90 cheapie stuff and didnt notice to much of a diff. im now on 75w90 Synthetic Royal Purple and its just as bad. I just read on here that our car doesnt like anything but GL-4 and that i should buy redline mtl or mt90.

Any Ideas?
and if you agree that i should buy the redline....which one? MTL or MT90

I had this problem replacing the original trans fluid on another car.
I replaced the new oil with 75-90 NS redline synthetic and it was great. Made a huge difference.
( just checked the 1/2 qt i have left.)
On the Sentra I used 75-80 I think, NOT 90, on the shelf at Autozone. Its ok but not as good as it was.
So I may change the Oil out to a synthetic.
Yes you should use GL4 NOT GL5, GL5 is an EP lubricant and has additives for extreme pressure that stop the syncro's from working and is corrosive to the yellow metals in the syncromesh.
If you don't want to find and pay for the Synthetic then use a conventional 75-80 GL4 (could have been 75-85, none left to check !!)

Well i just checked the Red line web site and see that MT90 is the recommended Oil for the Nissan trans Axle.
I called red line with my previous car with hard shifting problems and they recommended the 75-90NS, but i would not recommend this for this application without calling them again.
Sorry if I misled anyone.
Also Nissan recomends 90 weight up to 104 F ambient temp.
