Sentra 95

Hi Guys. i've a problem, my car's engine dies off even at the speed of 80km/h (normal driving), jus imagine without brakes and steering...hehe. This happen recently..and its being going on and off...sometimes none the wholeday. I've tried ram on the accelerator once recently the engine dies off immeadiately, as now i m now driving pretty slow and not to accelerate in an instant. Fortunately it can be restart easily but the idling jumps up and down between 800-1200 rpm the dies off again for several attempts, i hav to restart until i get a stable rpm then it will be okay for the time being. hope you guys can enlight some advice..thanks in advance

You mean it died when you hit the gas hard?
As usual, check the easy stuff first...spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor...
Then check IACV,fuel filter and vacuum leak

yes, if i ram on the accelerator it will die off, even on normal driving its just kill itself without any signs of jerking its like turning off your ignition on an RPM of 1700-2000. Yeah come to think of it i hav abit oil leakage on the distributor cap but the mechanic say it has nothing to do with it. Whats IACV and vacuum leak, how do i check that? Thanks for your prompt reply.

try checking the electrical connectors on the sensors the air sensor is not to be cleaned

it is a loose contact inside btw you mean the sensor that goes on the air intake hose?

if connectors are good i can tell you the sensor is bad it happened to me in another car same sensor same problem ended up changing it and worked great
