checking for spark

Just bought an ignition spark tester (calibrated) to check for spark on a B14.

Will let someone crank the engine (when it's dark outside) and check to see.

Should I expect fat blue spark?

How visible is it? If the spark is orange or yellow does it mean there's spark or weak spark.

What type of noise should I expect (a popping sound)?

Anyone whose done kindly reply.

I can answer the first two questions. The spark (if it is firing correctly) will be a fat blue spark, yes. And the spark is very visible. I put the contact for the plug on the intake manifold when I checked mine (got wet and wouldn't start up one morning) and could see it just fine.

have a friend put it in his mouth and touch the car if he falls when you crank its good, if not, its not good.
