My97Sentra

Hi,

At first I thought perhaps a leaf or something was stuck in the A/C fan. It was making a rhythmic sound that sounded like it could be. However, the other day it made a terrible sound that sounded like the fan got WAY off kilter and now sounds like it is just fumbling around behind the dash.

I went in for a estimate/best guess. The mechanic thought it was perhaps the 'cage' that was busted or off. Thought it would be about 1.5 in labor to get in there and take a look to see what happened.

Any ideas? Or anyone had this problem? Something simliar?

well, it could be something stuck in the blower fan. it's quite easy to check it out yourself. there's a service manual somewhere here that can show how to remove the glovebox and the blower motor after that.

Thanks. I'll be picking up one of those manuals today. It sounds so bad that I can't even turn it on. Sounds like the fan will come busting through the dashboard!

Turns out there was a plastic bag, tons of leaves and a nylon rope in the fan. Yep. That'll do it. It's working perfect now.
