This has probably been covered but I'm too stressed to have a good thorough look around.

Driving a Nissan Sentra GXE 1996.

So I put the key in the ignition and turn it but absolutely nothing happened.

No lights, no sounds, not even a click.

Roommate seems to think it's the starter but I've got no idea. also have no clue where it would be located. Can anyone help?

did you check your batery voltage????????????
if so whats the volts should be at least 12.46
are your cables conected????
is there masive corosion?

if you do have battery volts ------ do a voltage drop from post to cable
and cables are conected -------- use dvom one lead on battery one on cable

ohh and if it was the starter you would still have lights so that out of the question.

if these dont help i have a compleat list of electrical diagnostice i can teach you, and they work i use them all the time on tons of cars

Thanks, it never occurred to me that I should still have something lighting up on the dash unless the battery was out... it's probably about that time to be replaced anyway.

test the voltage first, and give it an overnight deep tricklecharge befor you go to replace it

cuz hey you might save 50$ if you can just charge it

So, I was just gonna take it out to take with me to find a replacement. I unscrewed the negative cable.... and it came off in my hand... which I believe must be the real problem. Is this fixable?

The cable came off at the little bracket that holds it down behind the battery. Do I take it in or can I get a replacement cable... or is that just too darn difficult?
