Are these bolt-ons worth it?

Right now I am in college, so I do not have the time nor money to do what I want to my 97 GXE, which is to drop a vq35 into it.
But, I still want to make this car more powerful, and also do it on a budget. I know the products we see on ebay are not as good as their hotshot and other name brand counterparts, but do they work?
I saw this OBX intake for 65 bucks on ebay, will it noticeable increase my performance?
eBay Motors: OBX Cold Air Intake System 95-99 Nissan Sentra 200SX (item 260117059495 end time Jul-09-07 23:17:53 PDT)
And what about all of those short ram intakes I see, do they work?
Secondly, I need a set of headers to complement the intake, are there any out there that are a bargain?
My last question in more technical, how much modification (additional power) can my auto trans hold?
Thanks,
Abe

I'm kind of in the same boat you are. I'm in college, not a whole lot of cash coming in. From what I've read on here in the past, most people on here will tell you not to buy any off-brand mods for your car. I bought a used Weapon R header for my car for like $175 shipped. You might want to stick to stainless if you can. I bought a hack of a short ram intake off ebay for like $25, I would not recommend one of those(I made my own CAI with a better filter). The OBX one I would consider buying if I were to do it again. I think I've seen new OBX headers for a reasonable price on ebay as well. I would say these products work, maybe a fraction of a percent less than the "big name" parts, but so what its a 1.6L 4 cyl and it probably won't make huge HP unless you do some crazy turbo or nitrous setup.

My parts aren't "name brand" and may or may not be up to some people's standards. I don't worry about this because, I can't see sticking a ton of money into it and not getting a lot back(performance) in return. I like the way the CAI sounds, I like how my exhaust sounds and I can't complain about the gas mileage. That is all I can really ask of my car at this point. Sometime down the line when I'm working full time and have the time, I would like get a project car that I can make more extensive modifications to and not worry about how I'm going to get to work the next day, lol.

I don't know a whole lot about the auto transmissions, but I'm willing to bet that as long as you're not turbo charging, spraying nitrous constantaly or doing transmission drops, you will be fine.
