replacing side mirrors

I had a side mirror damaged in a parking lot. How do I get the old side mirror off? I know there are screws under the plastic cap in the cabin, but how does the cap/trim piece come off? I've tried pulling on it, but I don't want to break it. Is there a certain up and out or to the side technique? Thanks!

just pop the cover off and you will see 3 screws(as far as I can remember). unscrew them and unplug the electrical plug.

Is it a power mirror?
1. Fully lower the door glass.
2. Pry out the mirror mount cover.
3. Remove the door panel.
4. Disconnect the connector, and detach the harness clip, then remove the nuts or bolts securing the mirror.
5. While holding the mirror, push out the clip, and remove the mirror. Take care not to scratch the door.
6. Install your nissan mirror in the reverse order of removal.
